Eastern Market is Detroit's last surviving public market. Since 1891, people of all walks of life have come to the Market to trade, work, socialize and now live.

Over the past 100 years, Eastern Market has evolved. It has been part of Detroit's growth, from its pre-industrial beginnings, through the Automotive Age and now into the Information Age. Despite these changes, Eastern Market is still a place where you can buy locally grown meat and produce directly from the farmer. Nearly 40,000 weekly patrons come  to shop the Market and enjoy new amenities such as the recently restored Shed No. 2 and the current $5 million dollar renovation of Shed No. 3.
